uncommon valor: in upstate, south carolina
about the book
I wrote and self-published Uncommon Valor during my senior year of high school, driven by a deep respect for those who have served our country. The book features a collection of firsthand accounts from veterans across various wars, all of whom reside in Upstate South Carolina. I conducted in-depth interviews to capture their most compelling and courageous experiences in service.
To support this project, I was invited to speak on a local radio station dedicated to veterans, where I shared my mission and called for participants willing to contribute their stories.
Told from the perspective of a civilian honoring those who serve, Uncommon Valor offers readers a powerful glimpse into the lives, sacrifices, and enduring bravery of some of America’s most selfless individuals. Each story is a tribute to the veterans who form the backbone of our nation’s freedom.
patrick loves potatoes
about the book
I illustrated Patrick Loves Potatoes, a children's book written by a family friend. This project was especially meaningful to me as it marked my very first venture into illustration. Without access to professional tools at the time, I challenged myself to complete every drawing entirely on my iPhone—proving that creativity can thrive even with limited resources. The story follows five-year-old Patrick, a playful boy with a big love for potatoes. Whether he's biking, playing, or with his dog, one thing never changes—he’s always thinking about potatoes! The hand-drawn illustrations bring his lively world to life for young readers.
a surprise for mother
about the book
I illustrated A Surprise for Mother, a children’s book about a four-year-old boy with a big idea to surprise his mother. This project marked an exciting step forward in my creative journey, as I upgraded my tools and used professional illustration equipment alongside Adobe Illustrator to bring the story to life. The book captures Darin Lee’s excitement and determination through warm, engaging visuals that complement the narrative and spark imagination in young readers.
